JULY 16TH NATHAN SMITH & ASIA ENG
Published by admin | Filed under News & Events

The Ronin Gallery is very proud to announce a 2 person show with Asia
Eng and Nathan smith. This is the largest show to date for both
California native artists, and we are very excited to showcase these
very exciting up and coming talents. Both names are ones to watch
out for and we are very excited to be able to showcase these fresh
faces together in what promises to be an energetic and impressive show.
Nathan Smith, originally from SoCal’s Inland Empire, has lived and
worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer in San
Francisco since 2004. He has been writing graffiti seriously since
‘01, and has used several names but his most recent and prolific
moniker is KOREA. He joined the LA graffiti crews KOG and LTS before
moving up to the bay and still represents his crews and his LA roots
with a passion. While his traditional graff is well developed and
well respected, he has recently been working on his fine art chops,
creating an incredibly well crafted style that is both street savvy
and masculine, but elegant and symbolic. He also recently arranged
and curated a gallery show for his LTS and KOG crews in San
Francisco, pushing his crew’s ability to translate their organic, non-
traditional graff style into fine art, and demonstrating his ability
and drive to make his permanent mark in the world of fine art.
Asia Eng originally hails from Oakland, and moved to Los Angeles to
attend OTIS, where she has graduated from 2 years ago. In that short
time she has done illustration work for such clients as Disney,
Warner Brothers, and Harley Davidson, among many others. She has
also been turning heads in the Los Angeles gallery scene and has
shown along side some of todays most exciting artists at many well
known venues. Her artistic drive mainly stems from the challenges
she faced growing up with a hearing impairment and a speech
impediment that caused her to be extremely introverted as a child,
and at an early age turned to art as a means of expression. Her
unique style is a well balanced blend of dark and light, incredible
motion and a distinctive and well executed technique. In her fine
art, she depicts her personal challenges by using a rich imagery
steeped in nature and classical asian influence.
oh, we’ll have custom made homebrew and don chow’s too.
